New Flash update won't install on my Mac

The new flash update won't install on my Mac, when it gets to about 50% a box pops up saying that it can't continue because safari is open.  Safari is not open, there is actually nothing open at all.  Need help, this is getting pretty annoying!!

If you use a plug-in called "MenuTab", it'll give a "false open" for Safari.

Best bet is to do a "clean install" which involves a reboot: How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X
