You can use a xml based result, or use a binary RPC like soap, amf etc. AMF is what i'm using, which allows to call any remote call, with its corresponding user/pass arguments. Search google for flex, amf, it should return plenty of correct results.
Appreciate your response. Can you send me the sample code on how you are returning it. Thanks.
Well, in ASP.net you return as the http result:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
Now, in flex, get this result into a xml node and compare the node's value to find out if auth happened successfully or not. Note that, any session id cookie caching is done by the browser AFAIK, so you needn't worry about the login staying alive.
Sarkar and Tracy,
Thanks for your help. You both have been very helpful with this topic and greatly appreciate your responses.
Great example (especially encrypting the password...etc) and source code. I owe you my life :-)
