    dcr files

    newmfa Level 1
      Hi,,

i finished project with dirMX04, i converted all "dir" files to "dcr" shockwave to
compress them, but i have two questions about "dcr":

-"dcr" files work on all pc without install shockwave?
-"dcr" protected like "dxr" and user can't edit them?

      regards

No. dcr files require the Shockwave runtime. If you make a stub
projector to open the dcr file, then the user will not need shockwave
installed. For more info about stub projectors, see our very own Dean
          Utian's tutorial:

          > -"dcr" protected like "dxr" and user can't edit them?

Yes and no. They are not protected the same way as dxr files. dxr are
encrypted. dcr are compressed and put into a proprietary format that to
my knowledge has not been released or hacked. Therefore, they supply
approximately the same level of protection, but in a very different way.
The user can not edit either dcr or dxr files.
