v30.1 viewers are out

Today we released v30.1 of the viewers. Bob's What's New page has a recap of the release but there are a few cool things I wanted make sure everyone saw:

On native Android we now have a way via App Builder to explicitly set which folio renditions should display on tablets vs phones. No more having the wrong rendition show up on your high-resolution phone screens. Woohoo! We also added support for vector scrollable frame overlays.

On Windows we added parital support for the audio overlay. Everything works except custom controllers and background audio.

There's other little bug fixes and whatnot too, plus the return of Advertising Identifier on iOS. Check out Bos's release notes for all the details.

Updated Adobe Content Viewers for Windows and native Android are available in the store. The Windows viewer will update automatically on your device in the next day or two, you can confirm you have the update by checking the about screen for version 30.1.

Neil, could you say something behind the decision to skip support for Amazon Android Apps? Here in Europe Amazons App Store has almost no impact to the market. Is this the same in US?

One note about the Windows viewer: looks like it hasn't passed approval yet. Updated Adobe Inspire and DPS Tips apps were approved overnight so I expect ACV isn't far behind. I'll post back on this thread as soon as it is available.

We upgraded Headliner app with 30.1 and renditions support.

On regular phones and tablets it's ok.

Cheap tablet Colorovo CityTab Lite (70 USD) with 800x480 resolution is showing phone version.

And i have no idea what will be shown on phablets - any experience?

We are dependent on the device accurately reporting its characteristics when we select between "tablet" vs. "phone". There is no clear definition of which is which on Android, and it is entirely possible there are devices on the market that do not correcty adhere to Google's guidelines for reporting screen width, pixel density, etc.

I'm not surprised with this cheap tablet at all. As far as i know, it's internally reporting as some Galaxy phone device.

But really would like to hear from someone what experience have with phablets - we don't have any here for testing .
