I installed the ACR update and had the option to open in Camera Raw vanish from Bridge. If I open a RAW file from within Bridge, it first opens Photoshop then ACR. File viewed in Bridge no longer show the icons that reveal that the file has been cropped or manipulated.n
I want to return to having a link between Bridge and ACR, and I want my files with existing sidecar files to show that when I view them in Bridge.
Any suggestions? I have not attempted a reinstall of CS6, and would as soon not, so any suggestions appreciated.
CS6 Photoshop works as expected, ACR can be called from within Photoshop, Bridge shows RAW file thumbs but requires a trip through PS to open the ACR dialogue.
RGBaker states that File viewed in Bridge no longer show the icons that reveal that the file has been cropped or manipulated.
Damn, I hadn't spotted that. I now see that I have that problem too, and that is a major issue, given that i don't necesarily process my images in the order that they appear!
Still looking for any suggestions which would enable me to uninstall 8.4 and go back to earlier version
There's a fix coming.... don't reinstall CS6 yet, although that would be hours of fun
I just received a replacement file to test for the camera raw plugin. This fixed the problem on my installation of CS6 that had updated to 8.4 and was not able to launch Camera Raw from Bridge, and also Bridge was not able to view or alter any Metadata.
There was no need to reinstall PS, just a direct replacement of the file. I don't know how Adobe will be supplying the fix, but as of now, I would not recommend updating to Camera Raw / DNG 8.4 if you are using CS6 until the new file is available.
thanks to Adobe for the quick fix.
Thank you -JM-,
I too have now received the fix, and it appears to work. i.e. Certainly I can now see ACR in the “open with” menu and I can now see which RAW files I have processed and which I haven’t.
Does anyones Bridge show preview images/ thumbnails of .TIFF files?
I manually reinstalled the ACR plug-in and after purging the cache, full function of all options appears restored. Before the purge (but after the manual installation) I had full function on some files but not all -- the purge cleared that issue. I also have preview and thumbs for tiff, as well as raw and jpeg files. I didn't go looking for tiff files until after I had done the reinstall, so I can't answer as to whether I ever lost the preview of tiff, but as my installation currently stands, it seems to be restored to full functionality. Thanks to Michelle Qi for the assistance.
