"close safari during installation"

I have been trying to install adobe flash player for my macbook for several times. Every time the installation stops at 50% and then appears message "close safari" and even if the safari was closed i cannot proceed with the installation from here. Any help guys?

Dashboard widgets and an app called MenuTab (Facebook plug-in) can cause this. Best to do a clean install with a reboot in the midst.
