The InDesign and Acrobat worlds are very different.
In Acrobat you
- add the script to a specific folder
- the script is read and executed only once, when Acrobat starts
- the script CAN add menu items with procedures to run later
- there are important security restrictions that you must read and understand because a normal script could not delete pages
