installing on mac with os x mavericks

when i try to intall flash player, i get a message to quit "dashboard client". what it this and how do i quit it?

Applications/Utilities>Activity Monitor

Click each Dashboard process (sorry, it has to be done one at a time) and then click the octagonal icon to force it to quit.

THEN run the installer, and relaunch Dashboard from your Dock.
