You could start with some real details on what’s going on.
Sorry Bob apologies
I made a 192 page eBook of my bird pics using iNdESIGN with the original Blurb plugin
Here is the image of the database error which occurs about half way through the EBook conversion.
The cant find color is similar though the box is smaller; I seem to have lost that jpeg from my computer.
I dont really want to run the converter again as it seems to lock up my InDesign ie one cant quit it?, this did work. Yesterday I was informed that the plugi had been upgraded, so I did that and all seemed fine.
However when I tried to convert and upload to Blurb I got an error box with OK button saying script error "cant find color'
This occured during PNG writing. There are multiple reports like this. Click ok eventually allows the converter to carry on, I guess this happens about 10 times in blocks of 6-8 messages throught the conversion. In between these the PNG writes go smoothly. Eventually the error show above pops up, clicking ok allows the conversion to continue.
I then get a message to say conversion complete " you book is being uploaded to Blurb. This runs very slowly indeed and would take many hours to complete; according to Blurb this should take 40 mins at most.
Eventually I have to cancel and cannot proceed.
Thank you very much Bob, would really appreciate your assistance.
This sounds more like a Blurb issue than an InDesign one.
Do you have any other third party plugins installed? You could try disabling them in case there's a conflict with those.
No I have only ever installed this one?
You can imagine my feeling right now its taken a year to design and cant see a way forward atm. Blurb unfortunately are not too god at resolving issues like this
Have you tried trashing your prefs?
Are you using a 64 bit version of InDesign or the 32 bit version? (shouldn’t matter but you could which ever one you’re not using)
64 bit CC Bob
can explain what you mean, and how to resolve "trash preferences" sorry novice here Im afraid
OK I will look into that thanks
I can see under "edit" reset png preferences - worth a go?
Just to say resetting png settings had no effect
Others who have used Blurb have commented on how difficult it is to get support from Blurb for their own plug-in. It doesn't speak well to the product.
Well thats riight, but every problem has a solution
Are there any other plugins for InDesign that can produce an E book from an INDD file?
Depending upon what you actually need, InDesign can do this without plugins.
InDesign CC 9.2.1 (current version) produces quite good EPUB files. Give it a try yourself. If you have questions, ask in the InDesign EPUB forum (subforum on InDesign forum):
Thank you both for your assistance
It appears that the tiffs in the file are the cause of this; why are they there - I missed them I guess
apparently one cant use them. I am replacing with jpegs, my son says it then works so I will report back in the nect few days
thank you again
I WILL OF COURSE FOLLOW UP ON THE EPUB OPTION
