If you're on a Mac, you could try to repair permissions.
I'm on a pc, and went into permissions, or so thought, and I reset them to user and admin, which are both me. I'm thinking of moving everything to the mac. Is it easier to work on? I have cs6 photoshop so would get AE on the CC.
In my experience the Mac requires less maintenance than a Windows system. Dollar for Dollar, if you compare exact specifications, customer service, warranty - the cost is about the same, but with a Windows box you have many more price point options. About 30% of my freelance work recently has been on Windows machines, 100% of my personal work and work through my studio has been Mac for the last 6 years. In the preceeding 20 years I went back and forth between Mac and Windows machines all the time. My Mac's have always held their value much better than Windows machines (I always sell a system when I upgrade) so in the long run the Mac's have been less expensive to have in the shop from a strictly business accounting perspective.
You'll find many shops that are entirely Windows and many that are entirely Mac. If the machine is set up properly and I don't have to deal with updates, drivers and maintenance, it makes no difference to me what OS I'm using.
