I'm dragging a .mov file from the media browser to the timeline. It has worked properly before, but now it does one of three things:
1) It won't automatically open in the video reference channel/won't let me drop it into that channel
2) If I import it another way, it says "This track only supports video files"
3) It starts to import the .mov as a .wav
This has happened a few times--more than I'd like--and I've been able to fix it with a few restarts. It's being pretty stubborn now though.
Any known fixes/cures?
Are you on a Mac or a PC? The type of video files that Audition can open natively is quite limited but is extended by having Enable DLMS format support ticked in Preferences/Media & Disk Cache. But the extra formats may also be dependant on what audio/video codecs are installed on your computer ie. Quicktime.
I'm using a Mac. I double-checked and I do have enable DLMS checked. My biggest issue is that it isn't consistent. Sometimes it does import, but usually it doesn't.
Unfortunately .mov is only a wrapper for audio/video contents so it may not always contain what you expect. I believe that it can be audio only. You can check the files properties and contents using something like MediaInfo.
