I downloaded the update files and tried to install them. I received the message "Update Failed" "Updates could not be applied" "Please contact your Administrator if you wish to apply updates on your machine. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator."
When I tried to Auto Update through Bridge, I received a similar error message.
I am an Administrator on this machine, with all privileges.
So, I tried to solve this problem. Following the advice found at this Forum Post http://forums.adobe.com/message/4758115 , I deleted the file "AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat" in 'Library > Application SUpport > Adobe > AAMUpdater >1.0'
That did not solve the problem, though.
So now my issue is - how do I allow my machine to update?
Uninstall After Effects and the reinstall it through the Creative Cloud desktop application. This will install the most recent version, with the updates.
Thank you so much for your help!
I am trying to follow your advice and install AE CS6 through the Creative Cloud application, but it seems that I can only install AE CC through the Creative Cloud application.
The text on this page ( http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-cc-and-cs6-apps.html ) seems to indicate that I can choose a version to download, but when I navigate to the linked download page ( https://creative.adobe.com/products/aftereffects ), I am not given the option to choose which version to download. I can only download AE CC through Creative Cloud.
Below is a screencap of what I see when I am on the download page - this differs from the screencap shown as an example on the page instructing me to go there.
You need to sign in with your Creative Cloud account to see the CS6 option. You're looking at the free trial version of the page.
Thank you for the suggestion Todd!
I signed in to the download page (using the Sign In link on the top right). I am still presented with the same page that has no option to choose the version to download. I still am unable to install the most current update of AE CS6.
I may not have stated that I am not a Creative Cloud subscriber. I only own CS6.

Oh. That totally changes things. Then you can't use the Creative Cloud installer.
