    Menu Drop Down help

    gkeg
I have created a menu bar with drop down menus on my company's website. The only problem is that every time I want to change something in that menu bar, I have to go and edit the toolbar in each page that it is in; otherwise the new links (or changed ones) do not get updated globally in the toolbar. Is there any way of making the toolbar so that whenever I would like to change something, or add a new page, I can just make one change and have that change made in the toolbar globally?

I should add that I have created the menu in Fireworks and exported it to Dreamweaver.

I am having the same problem! I have created 7 different banners each with the same row of drop down menus; and they are now inserted into over 50 different pages of the website. Every time I edit those menus in Fireworks 8, the changes do not appear. I have literally had to recreate the entire pages in dreamweaver 8! This is like starting all over again to build a new site. Have you found a solution yet? Please share, thanks, Sarah

Editing in Fireworks can't change files on your Web server. Any changes
you make would have to be imported into the Dreamweaver page, and then
from Dreamweaver, uploaded to the Web site.

No, there isn't. No matter which menu model you use, you'll always have
to update everything on the server manually. You might want to explore
the subject of server side include commands.

But... I have exported the changed banner back into the site. If the dreamweaver page has the banner (Fireworks document that I just edited) contained in it. Why is it not recognizing it? I am not changing the name.
I am literally creating a new page, and reinserting the Fireworks banner, then I have to recreate the entire page. Because if I delete the banner off the page, and try to import it back in, my entire page is lost! I am feeling stupid and quite at a loss! Not to mention the hair loss.

What steps are you using to insert your banner? Is your site properly
defined in Dreamweaver? The reason for that last question is that unless
the site is defined ad a notes folder generated, Fireworks and
Dreamweaver cannot comunicate with each other properly.

hmmm, well I followed Murray R. summers directive for creating and importing pop-up menus into Dreamweaver.
                      http://www.adobe.com/devnet/fireworks/articles/fw8_popups.html
the process worked fine on my personal site, but now I am building a site for work, with numerous more pages, and changes.
                      There is no notes folder.
                      process:
make changes to pgn file, save, file>update html
I have also tried dumping all files related to the banner, and saving & exporting is anew.
In dreamweaver I have a page with the old banner, now not recognizing the new changed one.
so on a blank page with curser where I want the banner I import the html document.

Is the site not defined, or have you disabled notes?

The site is defined, although it is not live on a server yet. No I have not disabled notes
