Need to be able to enter information where calculation is present

I have a form in Acrobat Pro that is for expense reporting. If someone is being reimbursed for miles, then I need to calculate 0.56*the number entered into the "Miles" field which then automatically goes into the "Amount" field by using the calculate function. However, if someone needs to be reimbursed for something other than miles, nothing can be entered into the "Amount" field because a calculation exists - even if it is zero....how can I fix this so that someone can enter in a different amount if the miles are not being used? Is there a way to say enter the calculation if something is entered into the miles, otherwise leave blank and allow information to be entered?
