I've had the same problem before. It usually depends on your computer specs and how intense your project is on your computer, but here are a few fixes I found:
1) Restart AE
2) Clear the Cache
3) Clear up RAM
4) Check if you're overwriting a file (that can be an error sometimes)
If you could post a picture of the error message that would help!
Without proper system info and exact project details nobody can say much.
No message popped up this time, it was just froze so i had to quit it :/

That's the absolute minimum amount of RAM for AE to even run. You should probably get more.
Does it crash if you render to a different format (say, a TIF sequence)?
What is in your composition? How many layers? What effects? Any third-party plugins?
Does it crash on the exact same frame every time? If so, what starts on that frame?
What version of AE CS6 are you running? Make sure to update to the latest (as of this writing, 11.0.4).
You're probably running out of memory. You could also have a corrupted media file.
