You need to remove/ disable the C4D plug-ins that already come with AE. The location of the plug-in doesn't matetr much - AE will scan its own folder and all sub-folders and load whatever it finds.
So I should just remove the MAXON CINEWARE AE folder?
No, you do not need to remove the CINEWARE folder to use the plug-in for importing .aec files.
Explain how, exactly, you are trying to use this plug-in. What steps are you taking to use a .aec file?
I'm trying to learn this workflow:
-compose a shot in c4d
-render the shot for use in After Effects CC
-unfortunately, After Effects CC can't read the file .aec file generated by c4d. As I understand, getting AE to read this type of file is simply a matter of installing the plug-in properly, but I seem to be at a loss.
I too, am having the same problem. I have downloaded the latest plugin from Maxon, installed it in the plugins folder, restarte AE CC 2014, and yet am unable to import the .aec file with corresponding files output from C4D R 16.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Same problem here. I can no longer import AEC files created from C4D R15/R16. Using AE 126.96.36.199 on Windows 8.1 Pro
