How about a GTX-750? Or is this overkill for my system (I don't mind overkilling a bit)?
Didn't mean to "repost"...but someone in the original thread said to go ask the question in the hardware forum...and...said to ask specifically about getting a video card so my system is "balanced"...so between those two things, it didn't occur to me that I was starting a second discussion on the same question.
Anyway, point taken.
You discussion was moved by a Moderator... some Mods send a PM (Private Message) with the new link
Anyway, the balanced systems link will be good reading
I haven't updated the list I posted in your other discussion in a long time, so I don't know the power requirements of the GTX-750
BUT... with your stated 400w power supply, the 64w draw of the GTX-650 may be what you want to buy
The GTX750 and GTX750 Ti only need a 300 watt power supply so you will be fine, since you said you have a 400 watt powe supply. I have been doing test with both versions of the GTX750 cards and they work well with Premiere.
I would get the GTX 750 Ti version as it is only around $20 more than the regular GTX 750. The Ti model wiil give you more cuda cores. In the tests I have done, it gave me better rendering times than the standard GTX 750.
John and Dave...thanks so much. I went ahead and got the non-Ti version...I feel a little silly not spending the extra $20, but from my frame-of-reference, the GTX750 is going to be such a HUGE step up from what I have, I am gonna be pretty happy.
Installation in about 4 days, and along with my memory upgrade from 8 to 16 to also occur on the same day...well...I can't wait.
Thanks again guys.
