Here is the model of my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
It has Intel Iris Graphics. I drag video in to edit, and the program either crashes or the video editing window shows strange distorted colors. What can I do to fix this? Thanks <3
In addition, the audio seems to be irratic. It's either missing completely or filled with static. Thanks!
Retina monitors may cause conflicts, particularly with older versions of Premiere Elements. Why not try the most recent version of Premiere Elements, version 12? There's a free trial on the Adobe web site.
Is your computer really using Intel graphics? I'm surprised a Mac Pro isn't using a high-end nVidia or ATI graphics card.
On the other hand, this is a pretty low-end Mac Pro. A dual-core i5 2.4 ghz with 128 gigs of storage is pretty low-end for doing any intensive video processing -- thought with an adequate RAM load, you should be able to get by for basic DV and AVCHD video.
Are you using the latest version of OSX Mavericks?
What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it? How did you get the video from your camcorder to your computer?
