Please help, CS3 driving me crazy!!!

    monkey_boy101
I'm currently using the trial version of cs3, very disapointed so far I must say, very sluggish compared to 8. Anyway, whenever I add a link to an image, it screws up the entire layout, by shifting objects and making things out of line, I can't get my head round it as I never had these problems in 8. Any ideas would be great.

      Thanks
      Phil

It's all just HTML and CSS. DW versions would make no difference at all.

We would need to see your page and its code to say more.

Hi Murry - Here's the code, this is after I've made the link, and the problem starts. I really don't know what the issue is

            Thanks
Let me know if I can forward you anything else

Hi Murry - I have tried making even a few basic slices, saving in a new folder and I get the same problem, I can't see it being a problem with imageready or photoshop I'm using, as I've never experienced this problem, only since downloading the trial version of cs3 has this occured. Another small problem is that it often tells me when saving a file in cs3, that the file already exists and would I like to replace it; when the file was deleted and removed from the trash prior to this, very strange....

CS3 is much less tolerant of bad code than DW8 was. For example, you have -

                <table id="Table_01" width="985" height="1258"

Table height is invalid HTML - always has been. If your page is rendering
in standards mode (meaning that you have a valid and complete doctype on the
page), then this attribute will be ignored completely.

                <td colspan="15">

A table that is filled with colspans, and rowspans (that are generated when
you either use FW/IR to build your pages, or when you merge and split cells)
is a fragile and rigid table that is CERTAIN to break when you change the
'shape' of your content, even a little bit. I suggest you read this -

                http://apptools.com/rants/spans.php

                > changeImages

I see that you *have* used ImageReady to write this HTML. Ewww.

I'm afraid that if you want to continue with CS3, you will need to study up
on your HTML and CSS. If you don't want to do that, then continue as you
were, but be aware that your pages will do unexpected things as you work
with them, and as other people use different browsers to view them....

Thanks Murray for your reply and help. I only use Imageready as it's the only thing I know that's simple, I only use it to slice my images, don't know how to do it in photoshop, if it can even be done. I have now sorted the problem I was having, it was putting a border around the linked image, had to edit the image tag by putting 0 in the border preference, all sorted :)

You're welcome. Unfortunately, this simplicity comes at a huge price - your
pages will break unexpectedly and mysteriously.

Yes - all linked images get a border by default. Good luck.
