Are you in the Timeline or the Sceneline workspace of Premiere Elements 7. (By the way, on what computer operating system is Premiere Elements 7 running?)
What are the properties of these video clips that are involved, especially are you dealing with video that has 5.1 channel audio? And, what is the video compression, AVCHD or MPEG2?
If you are in the Timeline workspace, do all your video clips go to Video Track 4 or above when you try to place them on Video Track 1?
I suspect you are caught up in the unique way that Premiere Elements 7 handles 5.1 channel. This is an easy fix if you have AVCHD 1920 x 1080 with 5.1 channel sound. You set the project preset for the project preset with 5.1 channel in its description. But, your details of your situation will direct us if complications are involved.
I forgot to ask - is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" issue?
This problem has only arrived since the mainboard and hard-drive were replaced and Premiere Elements 7 reinstalled. The Operating System is Windows 7.1
I was trying to start a new project in Sceneline with video clips in AVCHD from a Panasonic HDC-SD9 and yes they have 5.1 channel audio.
I have just tried again with 5.1 channel selected and WOW it works!
I cannot thank you enough- Bless
Thanks for the wonderful news that your Premiere Elements 7 and its 5.1 channel audio issue is resolved.
Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance.
Premiere Elements 7 is a good program, but, as I said, it does have its unique way of dealing with video with 5.1 channel audio.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and to ask for clarification.
