edhelbig May 13, 2014 11:12 AM (in response to edhelbig)Well, it's been a day, but no response forthcoming from ADOBE about this problem with their ACROBAT application.
I used to brag about how good ADOBE was, especially their support. Now the direct contact with tech support is so well hidden that it can't be found. And nobody at ADOBE seems to think these problems are very important.
I am losing my loyalty to ADOBE by the minute.

Sara.Forsberg Jun 2, 2014 2:44 PM (in response to edhelbig)Hi edhelbig,
I'm sorry that you haven't received a response yet. Let's see what we can figure out.
Can you please tell me a bit more about your setup? Are you printing from Reader or Acrobat, and which version do you have? To that end, make sure that you have the most current version of either Reader or Acrobat installed by choosing Help > Check for Updates. Updating has resolved the issue for several customers facing the same issue. It's also important that you have the most current version of the printer driver for your plotter (you can check HP's website for that information.) But if that doesn't do the trick, here are some other things to try:
- In the Acrobat/Reader preferences, click Document, and choose Never from the View Documents in PDF/A Mode pop-up menu.
- Try printing another PDF with similar dimensions to the same printer. Does it print without error? If so, the PDF that's causing the error may not be well-fomed, and that could certainly cause the error that you're seeing.
Please give those things a go, and then let us know whether you were able to print successfully.
Best,
Sara -

edhelbig Jun 3, 2014 10:13 AM (in response to Sara.Forsberg)Hi Sara
I finally gave up and printed four 35X45 sections, using Acrobat to crop with great precision (.125” overlaps, perfectly).
But it would’ve been nice to print it 35X90 and eliminate half of the seams. I’ve done it before, printing giant projects (the entire NYC Reservoir system for NYC DEP- 90X120 in three 30” strips). But that was in another GIS lab.
I will try your suggestions as soon as I have a chance – I have a plotter with rolls of paper 400’ long, I sure should be able to print long projects.
I will get back to you about my success, or not shortly.
Thank you for your assistance.
Yours,
Ed
