5. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
try67 May 13, 2014 3:16 AM (in response to knxsa)That seems fine... Sorry, I'm not sure what the issue could be. Maybe try removing the email accounts and then press the button again and set them up once more.

7. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
NKAdobe2011 May 14, 2014 11:45 AM (in response to knxsa)It's probably because the PDF form is relying in the client side email to be setup, which is not reliable for many users.
To bypass the email software you can submit to a server-side script, ASP.net or PHP, which will attach the submission to a SMTP message and send to the recipients.
Do you have a web server to place the scripts? If so, what type of server OS is it? Apache or Microsoft?

8. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
ftgben Dec 2, 2014 9:46 AM (in response to knxsa)I've been told (in so many words) that this is a browser issue. I'm not sure what to think about that yet. I suspect adobe has changed some scripting or security issues to send a fillable form via email from a website. At first I thought it was an Adobe Muse problem. Then I uploaded a form was tested without it being in muse and the form wouldn't send. The form sends fine directly from Acrobat to the designated email it's assigned to, but after it is uploaded to a website, it stops working. This same document was tested on Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera. Results: Safari and Chrome didn't send it. An OLDER Firefox version sent it. Then I updated the Firefox browser, tried it again and it stopped working. Opera seems to work. I was told by an Adobe tech support that I should ask my people (whom I don't know) that visit the website and are filling out this form to download Opera and use that particular browser as a solution. I found that laughable and unrealistic. I want to create some noise here, because its seems like a situation of technology pointing the finger at someone else instead of embracing the problem to get a fix. People, this is not new technology (sending a form via email) it used to work very well. Now it doesn't.
I would like to hear others comments about this and what they have experienced.

9. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
GKaiseril Dec 2, 2014 12:47 PM (in response to ftgben)Many web browsers like Google Chrome and FireFox have their own PDF viewers and they maybe faster because they have been stripped of a lot of features. The recommended fix is to download Adobe Reader, disable the internal PDF viewer and enable Adobe Reader.

10. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
ftgben Dec 2, 2014 12:52 PM (in response to GKaiseril)So I'm supposed to tell my client that there website is not working properly. In order for their visitors to send them a form, the user (visitor) has to disable their own browsers, download Reader and the form? and then send the form? Is that what you are saying?

11. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
ftgben Dec 2, 2014 12:55 PM (in response to GKaiseril)How do you disable the pdf viewer in Safari? I don't understand what needs toy be done? This is a hosted website. People form all over will be using whatever browser they are using. They are not going to modify their settings to download a form. They will just click off and be done with it. Seems like a pretty weak solution to me. Am I missing something here?

try67 Dec 2, 2014 1:02 PM (in response to ftgben)How to change the PDF viewer setting in Safari (and other browsers): http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html
It needs to be done because these viewers are buggy. If you want to complain contact their manufacturers (Apple, Google, Mozilla). It has nothing to do with Adobe.

13. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
ftgben Dec 2, 2014 1:32 PM (in response to try67)You are missing my point here. I don't have control of the people who visit the sites I host. I cannot possibly ask them to alter their software so they can send a form

16. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
ftgben Dec 2, 2014 2:26 PM (in response to try67)I just did a test on two documents (of the same). Both documents started as the same doc.
Document 1. reader extended send button working fine. Actions: Submit a form> mailing address. (everything works as it should)
Document 2. SAME DOCUMENT, only change is that this has been uploaded to the servers on the website. (won't send from there), so I downloaded it. Opened it up in acrobat, went to edit form (after saving a copy), this version that was downloaded had the actions stripped out! The action of submit a form was removed

try67 Dec 2, 2014 2:28 PM (in response to ftgben)Sounds like the server corrupted the file...

19. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
try67 Dec 2, 2014 3:56 PM (in response to ftgben)Did you open it in a browser and then save it, or did you save it without opening it first? If you opened it, my guess is the browser's plugin corrupted it.

20. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
ftgben Dec 2, 2014 4:17 PM (in response to try67)had to open it in the browser in order to download it

21. Re: Submit Form button won't email form
try67 Dec 3, 2014 12:19 AM (in response to ftgben)That that most likely corrupted it... You don't have to do that, actually.
In most cases you can right-click the file and save it directly.
