    Where to put files?

      Here's my current setup:

C: Samsung EVO SSD 120gb: OS, Programs, page

D: PNY 240gb SSD: Cache, scratch, temp

E: Samsung EVO SSD 500gb: source files

F: 3x 1tb HDD in RAID 5: Project files, exports

      1.5tb external: Backups of E

I use After Effects, Premiers, Photoshop, and InDesign about equally, and working with DSLR footage.

      My question is:

Would the project files be better served as being on the E drive?  I like the security of having them on F though because I don't want to have to go through and rebuild them all over again if something happens.  But I wonder if I could speed up After Effects and Premiere a touch by putting those project files on the fast SSD, even though the project files themselves are not that large.

I've looked into RAID 5 versus 0, and I feel like 5 is a better solution because of the fast read speeds at over 300mbs.  I don't mind the slow write speed because exporting is not going to be that quick anyway.  I hope to solicit some knowledgeable comments on the best place to put things, as I'm fairly certain that I want to keep things setup in terms of disk structure the way they currently are.  Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I've been there a bajillion times.  It basically says that project files and exports can go on the same volume since they aren't utilized at the same time.  But my question is not whether I can but whether this is the best approach?  Or is there another way that anyone has found that optimizes things more?

Also I was curious on soliticiting opinions on having the project files on that volume given that it is in a RAID 5 configuration.  Benchmarks are showing that volume to have great read speed but crappy write speed.  So I was hoping to get some commentary on the value of having project files on a volume with good write speed, or if write speed is that important for project files.
