What exact version of After Effects?

If you're exporting to QuickTime, what version of QuickTime are you using?
Does this happen when exporting to any format or codec or only a specific one?
I'm running After Effects CC 220.127.116.11
Sorry should have mentioned, no matter what format I render as, whether it be QT or TIFF sequence, I still get the exact same error.
QT version i'm using is 7.6.6
In terms of reproducing the error, it seems to happen to pretty much anything I try and render, unless it's an extremely simple one layer comp. Rendering a comp with 2 image sequence layers (1920 x 1080) will cause this to happen, but if there's just the one image sequence alone in the comp (and no other layers) then it will render.
What if you have two shape layers?
What are your memory and multiprocessing settings?
Ah, I see you're trying to render H.264. Now it IS possible to do it in AE CC, but don't ask me how; I'd never render to H.264 in the first place.
Instead, give this a shot: SEND the comp to Adobe Media Encoder, and render the H.264 using AME. The results are better.
Just having another check through everything and it seems I wasn't quite being thorough enough. Thought I'd checked through every effect, turning each off systematically, but I must've missed one. Seems as though frischluft DOF is to blame - was using it with my 3D render passes and as soon as I turn off the layer AE renders perfectly. Duh! Think I must have got preoccupied with the RAM as I'd just installed it, and missed the more obvious causes in doing so.
Quite relieved that I can render out of AE now although it's a bit of a pain I can't use frischluft DOF. Has this effect been known to be problematic in the past? I've used it in a few different companies and never had any issues with it up till now. Perhaps I need to upgrade to the latest version?
Updating is almost always a good idea.
Just updated the plugin and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks anyway for your suggestions guys!
