I am running Acrobat XI and Mac OSX Maverick. I create 508 compliant accessible files from InDesign docs. The problem is I can not get the Read Aloud feature to work so I can check the accuracy of the read order. I have tried several different files, including files from when I was running OSX 10.6.8 that I know are readable. I have checked all the appropriate preferences, nothing works. I have clients waiting for files so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry, I do not know why Read Aloud is not working for you. You might consider trying the free Acrobat plugin from Callas Software, PDFgoHTML. It provides a screen-reader view, allowing you to see the PDF in the way an AT user would hear it. Very quick and convenient in my experience for checking reading order as well as tag structure. You can read about here callas software launches groundbreaking pdfGoHTML [callas software]; and download it here http://www.callassoftware.com/callas/doku.php/en:download
We are having the same problems. Cannot get a cursor rollover to read text alloud on our Macs. Have you found a solution?
No solution, it is very frustrating.
