I'm designing a series of ads that look the same but are varied in size. I am using the one Indesign document and using the "Create Alternate Layout" feature. I have created the design on the first page and then used the "Content Collection" tool to replicate artwork on the other alternate layouts, all layouts have now been laid out. I have updated the leading tagline on the original page, the other layouts update too which is great, but unfortunately the original tagline text setting carries on to the other layouts which automatically mucks up my alternate layouts.
How do I stop this?
Can the update happen but maintain the existing layout settings?
I tried to set up paragraph styles on each layout, this works but it is a bit clunky and involves a few steps every time the tagline is updated.
Thanks in advanced!
As I understand what you're saying, you want the same text on each layout but a different formatting ("unfortunately the original tagline text setting carries on to the other layouts...")
The way Alternate Layout setup is supposed to work is to use paragraph styles. By default, a new Style Group is created for each layout. That way, each Alternate Layout can have its own formatting.
