What exact versions of After Effects are each of you using? What format are the image files in?
I am using AE CC on my Macbook. And i am trying open the project on my Clients PC (Also using Adobe CC)
There are hundreds of images (mostly Jpegs with some TIFFS and PNG’s)
Probably your PC buddies are using a different version of AE.
You can batch process the images from CMYK to RGB in Photoshop, easily and quickly, and then relink them in AE. It's a bit tedious but it's the only solution I can see.
Your'e lucky, just a few years ago, CMYK files would crash AE.
I've just updated on AE their pc and the images now Import. Cant believe I missed that!
Just a little FYI... You'll get better in AE if your images are RGB. CMYK color space is smaller than RGB.
From the help files:
After Effects works internally with colors in an RGB (red, green, blue) color space. Though After Effects can convert CMYK images to RGB, you should do video and animation work in Photoshop in RGB.
If relevant for your final output, it is better to ensure that the colors in your image are broadcast-safe in Photoshop before you import the image into After Effects. A good way to do this is to assign the appropriate destination color space—for example, SDTV (Rec. 601)—to the document in Photoshop. After Effects performs color management according to color profiles embedded in documents, including imported PSD files.
