Textures are rarely made in Photoshop. Most are usually downloaded, or photographed. But the free Flypaper Textures extension is a great tool for using them. I have a feeling it only works (or is free) if you have Photoshop CC, but I could be wrong.
Yep. The panel is for CC only, so sorry about that
But watch the video, and take note on how the textures are used, which is in either Multiply or Overlay mode.
