People, maybe my problem will be better illustrated by looking directly to the source.
If anyone feels no trouble to help me out, please get the source from :
the zip includes a DIR file and a short video.
open the DIR and you'll see what I mean.
the free ADisplayXtra is available at
I ran your test file and the deactivate & activate handlera actually only seemed to be triggered in quick succession as the movie ended and was removed.
It's very possible that what you describe is the case - MPEG advance is essentially creating it's own window - normally this won't be noticed, but given what you are doing it can be an issue.
You could see if using Buddy's SetParent function can force the MPEG window to be a child of the stage - a bit of a hack really
Otherwise, think carefully about whether you really need to adjust the user's screen without permission from them. This can make some users (not to mention developers) very angry.

Save and restore desktop icon layout (and temper) utility:-
I am making a game.
I think it is essential to change user's screen res to make my movie the whole screen.
the problem was identified yesterday.
it seems that something in my movie invokes the activate/deactivate handler. just like what john said.
the tabuleiro guys who made MPEGAdvance said that it is the free ADisplay xtra that caused it.
Well, I say it IS the flaw of MPEGAdvance.
Because I've tried playing my video using quick time and other mediaplayer xtra. They worked fine. the activate/deactivate handler was never called.
Anyway, is there a suggestion of other good free xtra that could change screen res beside ADisplay xtra?
