I have been using Indesign since its introduction and am now on Indesign 9.2.1 CC, and am having a weird thing happen with pasting inside the application. I use copy/paste all day every day, but in the past few weeks, it seems no matter what I do, the text loses some or all of its formatting when pasting from one text box to another inside the same document. When I do that, the pasted text reverts to the default Minion Pro for the text boxes. Even inside the SAME text box, I lose some of the bold, italics, etc. Usually is the same font, but without many of the attributes.
This seems to be new behavior. Anyone? Ideas? I have searched the prefs and could not find a setting to change.
Are you using paragraph and/or character styles?
No Bob, I do not believe I am. But will check...this happens even with a blank new document.
You should never work without styles.
Use paragraph, character, table, cell and object styles to format your content. Never make manual overrides this will help to create documents which will print well.
I know, some will say, it is too much work to create a style. I will respond: To apply the same formatting on any item a second time will cost much more work and will be a source for errors.
