i curently have a month by month membership for InDesign and work on the files on my PC. I'm also doing a PC course on InDesign next week. what happens tp these files if I purchase an Apple Mac laptop and want to work on them there down the line? Do I need to convert? Is it hard to do? Is it the same functionality on both?
--------- my answer became ignored, so I deleted it ---------
ID files themselves are cross-platform. As noted above, fonts may be an issue however.
OpenType fonts are completely cross-platform, and Windows True-type fonts also work on OS X. PC Type 1 (postscript) fonts will usually work in ID if installed on the Mac in the InDesign private fonts folder, but will not work in other apps. Mac format TT, T1 and .dfont cannot be used at all on PC.
Thank you for your advice. It has helped me a lot and I am most appreciative.
