Trevor Dennis May 31, 2014 4:33 PM (in response to Trevor Dennis)OK, this is old but interesting:
Photoshop: Spring Cleaning | PHOTOSHOP.COM BLOG
It's scary because we stand to lose some third party extensions, but it says the next version will be a new and separate installation, which will work alongside 14.2.1. It does not sound conducive to the streamlined workflows we get to love after using PS for a long time, but it is at least doable.
I would hate, with a vengeance, to lose GuideGuide for instance, unless similar features are included with the next PS update. If it is a separate installation, I also guess it will be 15.0. Does that sound reasonable?

John Waller May 31, 2014 5:48 PM (in response to Trevor Dennis)In the days of Creative Suite and earlier we would all be salivating and speculating wildly about the new and improved features - and working out if they were revolutionary ("gotta have it") or evolutionary ("meh").
That "Christmas Eve" excitement seems to me to have disappeared. The magic is lacking a little. Hasn't set the world alight yet.
I'm curious but not losing sleep over the announcement. We'll see soon enough I guess.
And now there's yet another naming convention to learn:
OP: My software's not working
Forum regular?: "which version have you got"
OP: Cloud
FR: yes but which version? CS6 or CC 2013 or CC 2014?
OP: the latest one. All patches up to date.
FR: yes but which version? CS6 or CC 2013 or CC 2014?
OP: Cloud 2?
FR: There is no Cloud 2. There's CS6 then there's Cloud 2013 the Clou.....................etc
OP Dunno. How do I find out? But I know I'm paying for it and I'm mad as hell since it won't work and I've got a critical deadline in 60 minutes....
FR: ......................................................................................... .........

Goodness, I didn't think of that, but you are so right. I think all forum regulars should have a list of boilerplate first responses to deal with such responses. I added links to the Elements forum, and 'Learn PSCC on Adobe TV' to my bookmarks toolbar a while back to make them quickly accessible, and have a folder on my desktop called Forum JPGs. The idea of the latter is obviously to have images ready for oft repeated posts, but I usually seem to end up doing them again, so not such a good plan. :-(
Any excitement about possible new toys, is for me being compromised by worries about the impact of HTML5 knocking out some favourite old Extensions. I can't imagine anyone removing CC 2013 from their system.

Yep, be fun to see what extra fallout, minefields and unforeseen traps we're going to have to deal with across the product range.
No doubt there'll be a huge new slew of Adobe technotes and workarounds for whatever new repetitive issues and weird errors rear their ugly heads.
I just hope the new toys restore my faith in Adobe's previously unmatched ability to innovate and inspire me.

gener7 Jun 17, 2014 9:15 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Don't forget the version numbers: Photoshop CC is v 14, CS6 is v 13. Kinda throws me off when I don't know off the top what v refers to what CS/CC.

Trevor Dennis Jun 17, 2014 9:57 PM (in response to gener7)Thanks. My confusion is if daylight saving is assumed in the scheduled time, or strictly ET without daylight saving? Either way, I am not getting up that early!

gener7 Jun 17, 2014 10:09 PM (in response to Trevor Dennis)It's EDT (Eastern Daylight Savings Time) Mar 9th - Nov 2nd and EST (Eastern Standard) otherwise. I guess Adobe assumes everyone knows what flavor, so they go with the generic ET.
That's 1000 PDT where I live, but I have a doctor's appointment. I'll have to play catch up when when that's finished.
