I need to get a cover for a brochure to the printers which includes foil blocking, a gloss layer and a die cut area. I have images to use for this but I am unsure how to set them up as the 5th 6th and 7th layer in the seperations? I think you need to create a spot colour to get them to appear in seperations but I dont know how to apply that to the images? Can anyone help please?
There are three ways. Save it as a non transparent Grayscale or Bitmap and with the image selected in ID assign a spot color swatch. Save the image as a Monotone—the Ink color you choose will show as a spot color when you place it in ID. Add a Spot Channel to a Photoshop file and paste the image you want to separate as a spot into the channel—the spot channel's name will show as a spot color swatch when you place in ID.
Thanks so much Rob. I took the monotone image route and it worked perfect.
All the best,
