What version of InDesign do you have installed? Did InDesign on your Mac ever act without an "out of memory" error? Is it just one file that this happens with, or with all files? (Sometimes, a corrupted font can generate an "out of memory" error.)
It is just that one file, but it IS my largest file.
Is there a way to identify a corrupted font?
My work is still using CS4, my boss plans on updating to CS6.
But unfortunately, my deadlines arrive sooner than that will happen.
First, I would consider the possibility that that files is corrupted, You can try exporting an INX file from the problem file (or an IDML file if it's available in CS4), then reopen that file in InDesign. Use IDML if it's available. See if you have the same problem in the new file.
I was able to create an IDML file, but InDesign is taking an insanely long amount of time to open it.
I can let you know what i find out when it finally opens, unless you have any other suggestions.
A second idea is to use the Type > Find Font dialog to search and replace a font with another font. You might try the font which is used the most in your document.
Just restarted and got the IDML file to open right up!
It seems to be working just fine, I will move forward with your other suggestion if I run into any other issues.
