I appreciate the quick response. Okay, do your apps use remoting or webservices? If you used remoting, how did you set-up the flex2gateway?
All my apps use Remoting. I have never had to even think about the gateway, or the ‘services-config.xml’. Being on a shared server, I have no access to those settings. I have had, at different times, at least six of these apps working on my server, with no problems.
There are a couple of things you must make sure of:
Your hosting provider must be running CFMX 7.0.2.
Upload the entire ‘bin’ folder to the server (except the debug files, if you don’t need them there).
Make sure your dotted paths to the CFCs are correct; those are not necessarily the same paths you use in your ‘localhost’.
Hmmm...okay, so you are saying that your apps are in fact running on a shared server?
This is what I know:
1) My host says yes, they are running CFMX 7.0.2; so I should be okay when it comes to Flex 2 and CFMX playing nice.
2) I have uploaded the entire 'bin' folder to the server.
3) I've played around extensively with the path to the CFCs. That being said, I could have easily made a mistake. Could you give an example of your service path, please? Did you use dot notation or / ? I tried placing my HelloWorld.cfc in multiple locations at the same time hoping one would work but I still get the same flex2gateway error.
OK, as an example, let’s look at the Phone Selector app, whose URL is http://www.timos.com/PhoneSelector/flex/main.html.
The FB project’s folder structure is like this:
PhoneSelector - project folder
>CF - folder containing CFCs
>Assets - folder
>Flex (bin) - folder
>html-template - folder
>main.mxml - main app file
View Source is enabled, so you can look at 'main.mxml' and see the RemoteObject tag and the CFC path. The 'CF' folder on the server sits at the same level as tne 'flex' folder.
BTW, I don’t know what I was thinking in my previous post - ‘services-config.xml’ has nothing to do with this. But I have seen many posts about issues similar to what we are dealing with here, where people unnecessarily start fooling around with that file and the gateway thing.
Hope this helps. Have fun,
Thanks so much for forward the files. It definitely helps. Unfortunately, my app still doesn't work. I'm beginning to think this is an issue with my host. I think what I'll do is upload your files to my server and see if I get the app working. If it doesn't then we know something is wrong on the server side.
Thanks so very much for your help.
