Choose File > Export > Adobe PDF (Print). Try using the High Quality Print PDF preset from the menu.
Thanks for the reply- i have done as you stated and it saved it as a PDF but now when i try open it, it says it cannot be open as either the file is not supported or the file was damaged :-(
You can’t open a PDF in InDesign, you can place the PDF.
Perhaps you should tell us, in detail, what you have to work with and what the end product needs to be. InDesign has a learning curve and to expect you to just jump in an use it with no training at all is unfair.
I'm not trying to open the file in indesign- i have an indesign file i want to convert to PDF and then open in the PDF program which for some reason is not happening.
I have a 96 page indesign document with pictures and text - nothing fancy that needs to be in a PDF version so my fellow colleagues can open it
Tel me about it- I'm a Garment Technologist t so deal with only excel all day- nothing to do with Indesign and will have no need to use it again!
PDFs open in Acrobat or Adobe Reader. There's a checkbox in the Export dialog in ID that you can use to open it automatically after export to check it.
