1. Re: How do I create a new layer that is only visible in the current animation frame?
Silkrooster Jun 4, 2014 9:46 PM (in response to ninjarealist)When working with frame animation, as long as you are not tweening, you can clear the frames and let Photoshop copy the layers to frames. Then each layer matches each frame.
You will find the options to clear frames and to copy layers to frames, in the menu that is available when you click on the icon in the top right corner of the animation panel.

ninjarealist Jun 5, 2014 2:20 PM (in response to Silkrooster)This is a helpful workaround but it doesn't really solve my problem because what I'm trying to do is create multiple layers in one frame without having to reset the visibilities every time I add a layer. If I use your workaround, all those extra layers will simply be treated as individual frames.

Silkrooster Jun 5, 2014 9:43 PM (in response to ninjarealist)What version of photoshop do you have? Do you need to use frames? I am wondering if you would benefit from using timeline animation instead.

4. Re: How do I create a new layer that is only visible in the current animation frame?
Silkrooster Jun 5, 2014 9:54 PM (in response to Silkrooster)I was doing some playing with frames just to verify what is going on. and as far as I can see when you create a new layer it is applied to the last frame only, but if you create a new frame is is copied.
What I did was create 2 layers one a background gradient, second is a raster rectangle.
For frames, the first is the background, second is the rectangle and the third is the same rectangle, now I can click on either frame and move that rectangle.

5. Re: How do I create a new layer that is only visible in the current animation frame?
ninjarealist Jun 5, 2014 11:41 PM (in response to Silkrooster)Hmmm, not sure what you're doing differently. When I create a new frame it's visible in all layers by default and I have to deactivate it on all but the current frame.

Silkrooster Jun 6, 2014 12:10 AM (in response to ninjarealist)Its possible something has been updated. I have photoshop CC if that makes a difference.
