Why when I create a multi-layer Illustrator CC document and import into After Effects CC and choose Retain Layer Sizes, it still crops the overhanging elements to the artboard/ comp size? This works fine for Photoshop, so why not for Illustrator? Is it a bug? Both just choosing Compisition and Composition - Retain Layer Sizes do exactly the same thing, so I'm assuming it is a bug.
The art board in Illustrator must be big enough to include all elements in the illustration or they will be cropped. The layer size still comes in, but the shape is cropped. Funny thing is that you can create shapes from the vector layers and fix the fill problem.
It has always been that way. I would suggest that you submit a feature request. I have.
So it seems. I may well submit it as a feature request, though technically it's a bug repair, since the very existence of the Retain Layer Sizes option suggests it should work, rather than the way it currently works being their intention.
