    Creating HD menus

    jmklein Community Member

I have been using Encore since version 1, now on 5.1, but have always been creating SD DVD's.  I have a standard set of SD menus I use as templates.

I am now venturing into HD on Blu-Ray, and I am struggling to figure out how to create HD menus.  I don't really like the ones in the Library, and I don't think I can bring over any menu items (buttons, etc) from my SD templates and have them show up as HD and high quality.

So I think I need to build them from scratch in Photoshop, or start with blank HD menu and then add HD buttons, etc from the library, although I can't find the buttons I really like.

Are there any good tutorials on creating HD menus, or are there any sites with free HD menus to download?

      Thank you.

I don't know of any tutorials or free templates; but they may exist.

You understand the essentials. Yes, start with a library template HD menu and substitute. Your SD buttons are actually fine for non-graphics - text can be adjusted in photoshop; vector graphics can be scaled etc. Individual graphics (e.g. an arrow) will be smaller, but should not be poor quality. So just as you created your favorite SD menus, fix one element at time until you are happy.
