So I designed a 3D animation project in the program Cinema 4D for a Youtube video intro and I'm trying to import it into Adobe After Effects for some additional polishing.
I rendered my project out of Cinema 4D as a PNG sequence and I imported it into After Effects. The problem is, I need the background of my animation to be transparent, but instead its solid black and I can't figure out how to change it.
Thanks for your help.
I'm quite an amateur so here's a picture of my effects setup, as I will probably need direction on the click path to change any settings i need
Well, your footage interpretation says nothing about an Alpha channel, so chances are you simply rendered it without one. This needs to be enabled separately in the C4D render settings. It's off by default. Otherwise AE would have asked on import...
As Mylenium says, you need to render with an alpha channel out of C4D.
Alternatively, you can render an objet buffer for things you want to cut out in AE and use it as a luma matte. (Google for more info.)
