You are very out of date. The current CS6 version of AE is 11.0.4 (and I believe another update is coming in the next week or so). Try updating and see if that helps.
It did not take the 11.0.4 update. Also, Adobe application manager tried to
update and I got this error: There was an error installing this update.

Doesn't sound like it is a fault on Adobe's end as this sort of thing has worked fine for me (and thousands of others) something on your computer got messed up.
Do you know what changed between when it worked and when it stopped working? Windows update? Install any software or codec packs?
Wait. You haven't told us much info. Did it ever work before? What are your system specs?
You could uninstall, run the Adobe CC Cleaner, and reinstall.
It worked fine a week ago. It seems to only be for the 64-bit versions.
Illustrator 64-bit also does not open.
I have automatic updates for Windows. I contacted them and they said they
could not help.
Check your Windows update history. Did anything update recently? If so, you could try uninstalling the update or - even better - try using System Restore to go back to a week ago when it did work.
