1. Re: no support for BlackMagic Decklink HD Extreme 2???
harry323 Jun 27, 2014 3:05 PM (in response to jtadnew)I would like to use the Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme card, like you, with Premiere Pro CC 2014. I've been using the card for years with FCP just fine, but I can't get any information out of either BM or the completely hopeless dopes in Adobe Tech support as to where I can download the BM drivers (for premiere Pro cc 2014).
Did you manage to obtain the BM codecs and whatnot? And could you tell me which version of the driver (or whatever BM calls it) works for you?
I'm hoping that you are on a Mac. I'm on a very reliable and ancient 8 Core 2,1 MacPro 2x3 GHz Quad-Core Intel and running Lion 10.7.5.
I'd appreciate any information you can relay to me. I just started attempting to learn Prem Pro a couple of days ago and am absolutely astonished at how rude and ignorant the tech support People in India are. It is truly astonishing. Or is it that they hate only me personally?
Anyway, let me know if you get anywhere and I will rejoice with you.
best wishes,
Harry.

2. Re: no support for BlackMagic Decklink HD Extreme 2???
jtadnew Jun 27, 2014 4:47 PM (in response to harry323)Howdy.
My solution was just to do that project in FCP. So much for progress, eh? The last i could figure out after talking with BlackMagic (TWO different people there gave me two different possible solutions…neither worked). I can dump audio to tape from Premiere, but never video. The last i heard was my/our card is not supported on this version of Premiere, so it looks like the BEST solution is yet another new card…which i'm not ready to do yet since i do very little with tape anymore.
Anyway…i hope that helps. I've found it useful to keep FCP around for a small project here and there.
Good luck!
Sincerely,

3. Re: no support for BlackMagic Decklink HD Extreme 2???
harry323 Jun 27, 2014 3:23 PM (in response to jtadnew)Dear Tad,
What a bummer. But thanks very much for the speedy reply. I will be disappointed if our BM cards cannot be coaxed into life under Premiere 2014 - sorry, strike that - I will be gurgling with rage and foaming at the mouth if my $1,000 card, albeit 6 years old, cannot be supplied with codecs for PP by BM.
Grrrr.
But the jury is still out. I have not yet had a reply from Blackmagic about possible new codecs and these poor starving "Tech Support" kids in India did say that BM Decklink cards are supported. But they are just dopes who want to get you off the phone.
I am all over BlackMagic at the moment and assure you I will report back to you on my progress - or lack of it.
Meanwhile, I guess I had better find a way of learning this program which does not involve the assistance of Adobe.
All the best - I will return - probably much poorer for having purchased another video card.

jtadnew Jun 27, 2014 4:47 PM (in response to harry323)TOTALLY agreed. So on marches teknolawgical progress…but i guess our rage won't solve the problem, eh? Thus the beauty of "workarounds". Did you keep FCP intact?
Sincerely,

5. Re: no support for BlackMagic Decklink HD Extreme 2???
harry323 Jun 27, 2014 5:40 PM (in response to jtadnew)Hey, Tad and anyone else who wants these Blackmagic codecs which go by the catchy name of"
"Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_Macintosh_10.1.2 ". These purportedly work with FCP 7.0.3 and my Mac 2,1 running Lion 10.7.5 - and also apparently should work with Premiere Pro CC 2014.
Blackmagic sent me this file which they think MIGHT work with Premiere and our Decklink HD Extreme card. It's a 97.9MB zip file. If you want to give it a shot I will send it to you ... somehow. DropBox? Your FTP site?
Or go to my website at FilmHarry.com and scroll down to the bottom of that page where you will find an email address where you can send me an email with your email address and I will DropBox it to you later.
I have not tested these goodies yet because I am going to do biggie System backup later this evening and then try them out.
Best,
Harry.
