    Select unused items in Library?

    rossfranks Community Member

Is there anyway to select any unused items in the library to quickly delete just like there is in Flash?

          Hi ,

You can go to the "images" folder of your project and delete the images you don't want and they would be removed from the library. Take a look at this thread : delete images from Library

          Thanks and Regards,

            Hmm thanks sudeshna sarkar,

not a great solution if I'm using 500 hundred images and for some reason 100 aren't being used anymore and I don't want to manually re-add them, that would be very time consuming.

I understand but we don't have this option directly available in Edge Animate as we have it in Flash Pro to delete all unused items from the library. The solution I mentioned is just a workaround and isn't that great

                Ok thanks sudeshna sarkar,

I'm just trying to work out whats the best way to manage frame be frame SVG animations, this was one of the issues I was having.

I would like to add my concerns to this discussion.  If an Animate user is not careful, ALL of the library files will be uploaded to a website's host server whether they are needed or not.  It would be nice to have a "delete" process directly within the library panel.  Or, it would be nice to have a fresh, empty library with each new Animate project (no carryover of past files).

                    Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback - Library workflow concerns have been noted and are on our radar.

Not sure I understand this. If you create a new composition and save it in a new directory, there should be no assets in your Library. The only ways what you're describing can happen is if you do a SaveAs on a composition that already has Library assets, or if you save into a directory that already has an images folder containing assets.

If you're not seeing what I'm describing, can you please add further detail?

                    Thanks,

                    Joe
