If you can better explain how you are trying to put an animation line in the timeline someone might be able to offer some help. You should include screenshots of your work to help explain. If you are using code then showing the code would help as well.
This is how I put the item into the timeline and then make the Tween
I put the item in and then I create a new symbol
I position it where I want it to start and put a a keyframe in the the timeline
I determine where I want the motion to end and put a keyframe there.
I have tried various combinations after that but basically I put a Classic Tween and position the item where I want the tween
If you could tell me how to take a picture on a Mac I would take one
Try this way:
- Create a frame on the timeline where you want the tween to begin.
- Place a copy of the symbol on the stage in that frame
- select the frame in the timeline where you want the tween to end and create a keyframe there - the symbol should extend to that frame automatically.
- adjust the symbols in the keyframes at either end to be as you want them to be at the start and end of the tween.
- right click the start keyframe and choose Create Classic Tween

Well that is what I had tried, but it didn't work. Now I have found a way to get the animation I want but it is tedious. I identify the beginning and ending point on the timeline by putting kayframes there. I then add an animation with the frame slider at the starting keyframe. I then move the frame slider to the end of the keyframe and move my symbol to where I want it to end. It works but it adds an extra kayframe at the end of the animation which I then delete. this causes an animation line to appear in the frames that follow the one I want. I then delete THAT animation from the timeline and I finally have what I wanted. I must admit that if the animation were any more complicated or needed to be greatly precise I would be pulling my hair out. Wouldn't a manual with specific instructions be better?.
It is really a testament to the poor state of affairs with the resources for the people trying to expand their working knowledge about the application they on that the 'back door' way I've come up with is listed as 'helpful'
Thank you so much! This is just what was needed! Where did you get this animation? Did you produce it or are there others somewhere that I could not find?
I just drew it really quick, that's all.
