Alex Konev Jun 19, 2014 10:54 AM (in response to ALison)Try 124% Windows font size scaling

ALison Jun 19, 2014 11:29 AM (in response to Alex Konev)Thanks Alex. That adjusts the size of everything on all my screens though and then the text is too small on my other screens. It's just InDesign and Illustrator where the toolbars and text are too big. I'm fairly certain it has something to do with Windows 8 and Creative Cloud 2014. Argh.

TsuNamiK70 Jun 19, 2014 11:33 AM (in response to ALison)Unfortunately it's not only Windows 8. Running Windows 7, same issue.
Tool bars and all views are huge! Running multiple displays, same result on either one. Has to be something in the update.

Ellis home Jun 19, 2014 11:47 AM (in response to ALison)I just installed Indesign CC 2014 and don't see any problems with toolbars size. I'm on Windows 8.1. Can you show a screenshot of what you see. I would try to uninstall/install.

durango4x4 Jun 19, 2014 11:59 AM (in response to ALison)I am getting the same thing on my Windows 7 machine. When I open up the "old" version of InDesign and Illustrator, they are still set as before. The new programs have the icons, mouse, etc... all set too large for my preference. Hopefully, someone can steer us in the right direction.

[Ariel] Jun 19, 2014 12:04 PM (in response to durango4x4)On Windows 7 I'm also getting this. I changed the Windows text size back down to 100% (from 125% previously), and InDesign is back to normal, but of course everything else is too small.
Still, it's nice to see that the toolbars in InDesign are scaleable. Now all we're missing is an option to set the size ourselves!

Ellis home Jun 19, 2014 12:24 PM (in response to [Ariel])Well, I must say this is a welcome development for those who need bigger menus. Up to this point, it was not possible to enlarge them just by changing the DPI. So, according to your experience, it seems the solution is to set the DPI to 100%.

9. Re: InDesign 2014 Update - Large Toolbars & Arrows
[Ariel] Jun 19, 2014 12:30 PM (in response to Ellis home)It's a partial solution.
I just skimmed over the scripting DOM to see if there's any hidden property to adjust the menu size via scripting, but unfortunately I couldn't find anything.

BobLevine Jun 19, 2014 12:48 PM (in response to [Ariel])One of the new features is HiDPI support. I wonder if ID isn’t seeing the monitor as a HiDPI monitor and boosting the size of the interface.

ALison Jun 19, 2014 12:53 PM (in response to BobLevine)Bob, I think that's exactly what it is but I don't know how to change it. Hmmm......

12. Re: InDesign 2014 Update - Large Toolbars & Arrows
[Ariel] Jun 19, 2014 3:10 PM (in response to ALison)It does seem that changing the setting to a custom text size of 124%
also works -- Windows is back to normal (for those with large screens),
and InDesign's menus go back to normal.

13. Re: InDesign 2014 Update - Large Toolbars & Arrows
amxyz Jun 19, 2014 4:44 PM (in response to ALison)Hi ALison,
Do you have your Windows Scale Setting set to >= 125%? InDesign is scaling the UI to adapt to OS Scale settings and it's triggered at >=125%. If you keep your Windows Scaling to be less than 125%, it will launch in 100% scaling.
Try it out and let us know if you see something different.

[Ariel] Jun 19, 2014 4:52 PM (in response to amxyz)Seems a funny way of doing it -- instead of double-guessing what the
user wants, why not simply make the size of the UI a preference for the
user to choose?

RiesG Jun 20, 2014 2:54 AM (in response to [Ariel])I agree 124% looks like a workaround. Unfortunately some other windows on my two pro lcd monitors are loosing sharpness with 124%. Not good for my eyes. Had to go back to 125%. Please Adobe, fix it!
