Whithout useful information, all we can say is that you make AE angry with you, and now you have to take it out to dinner and a movie to atone.

I just updated to AE CC 2014 and then the issue occurred. I tried going back to AE CC 12.2 and the error happens there too. The font I'm using is managed by CC. My setup is a Mac Pro 2014 6 core, 32 gigs of ram with Dual AMD FirePro D700. Any serious advice is greatly appreciated.

Edit > Purge > All...
If Todd's suggestion does not work show us a screenshot of your text layer with all properties revealed. Just select the text layer and press the U key twice. That will show us if there's anything animated that may cause the problem.
