Don't be so sure. I did the same thing. It worked until I restarted my iMac again; it came back.
...and I am still having this problem a week later... Reminds me of when I was using Windows.

Interesting thing about the root user. I followed the steps for enabling root and when I got to where I was supposed to Enable Root User, it was not listed in the options. Then I looked over to the right side of the dialog box and it said that I was authenticated as root. I don't know how that happened. I then changed it back to where I was authenticated. Still no "Enable Root User" in the list. I tried to log into root, but since I had never used it before, I did not have a password. I used my regular admin user password, but that did not work. When I escaped out of the d. box, I did a couple of steps that I can't remember, but now it shows "Authenticated as root."
So am I already in as root? If so, why would I still have this problem?
