1. Re: Tag name and description given to clip in Prelude 2014 does not show up in Premiere 2014
Blabberlicious Jul 3, 2014 9:50 AM (in response to Meg The Dog)I can confirm this is the same for me in Mac version 2014 Prelude & Premiere Pro.
Prelude does not seem to carry over the TAG description - only the comment text.
It's a new feature - but one that wasn't tested???
This makes the whole idea of using tags to quickly indicate basic types of content via a simple keyword useless!
I need to speed through many clips and make quick tags that can spot in the edit.

jmabela Jul 7, 2014 2:14 PM (in response to Meg The Dog)I came to this post looking for the same answer. Seems they put this feature in the latest version but its missing a fundamental function! Would love to see this fixed as soon as possible because it makes logging more efficient. I would also wish they take a look at what Apple did with FCPX and its logging and tagging and how they use smart folders to collect tags in bins. Makes the process even more efficient. It is in fact the only feature i like in FCPX, but i don't use that software, I just want these feature properly implemented in Premiere, and in fact i want to tag within premier so as i continue to edit i can add tags not just before!
thank you Adobe, show us why we are paying for subscription based software please.

For now i'm logging the traditional way, but so very much looking forward to advanced logging features. I would be happy to give specific input and feedback on these features with your team.
very best,

Blabberlicious Jul 8, 2014 2:18 AM (in response to michaelgoshey)Thanks for replying.
I too hope this is fixed soon, especially as Adobe took the time to promote it as a significant new feature.
People waste valuable time discovering 'known issues', that you really should list up front:
If I go to the release notes for PP CC
Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Release Notes | Premiere Pro CC
The link to 'Known Issues'
Please refer to www.adobe.com/go/pr_cc_knownissues for late-breaking information and known issues specific to Premiere Pro.
.....is broken
oh, the irony!
PLEASE fix this, and add a list of know issues being worked on.
Thank you.

Blabberlicious Jul 8, 2014 2:45 AM (in response to Meg The Dog)here is the correct link"
Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Premiere Pro CC / Top issues
can you please add this to the list, as it is significant.
There are a bewildering number of landing pages. I would suggest that 'Top Issues' should appear on the master help page (when you F1), and appear next to New Features.

Blabberlicious Jul 25, 2014 1:42 AM (in response to Blabberlicious)Still not fixed. new Tagging feature useless in Prelude/PP for Mac users.
So bugs for new features get added to the bottom of the list then?

9. Re: Tag name and description given to clip in Prelude 2014 does not show up in Premiere 2014
eikonoklastes Sep 17, 2014 1:03 PM (in response to Meg The Dog)Hello. I'm having the same issue. I've spent a few hours tagging footage in Prelude using the Tag panel (great feature by the way), but unfortunately the tag names do not show in Premiere, which is a significant let down.
Curiously, the tag names are searchable through the Premiere project panel (it filters the list to show the clips that have the tags you're searching for), but nowhere is the actual name to be found.
I suppose it's not the end of the world, but it does come across as rather sloppy from Adobe.
What hurts is that the Rough Cut from Prelude shows up with a ton of blank markers in a Premiere timeline, which is not brilliant, since I can't identify the shots by merely reading the tags on the timeline (which was partly the point of tagging it in the first place).
Prelude's been making good strides, but it doesn't seem to be completely usable just yet (sort of like Premiere Pro CS6). Hopefully with a December 2014 release?

10. Re: Tag name and description given to clip in Prelude 2014 does not show up in Premiere 2014
michaelgoshey Sep 17, 2014 4:16 PM (in response to eikonoklastes)Hi,
Thanks for the post. I'll check to see if the upcoming release of Premiere displays marker name or description in the timeline like Prelude does.
I do know that in the Markers panel you can find more information on the tags you applied in Prelude. In the upcoming release the tag name and description are both available in Premiere's Marker panel.
Thanks,
Michael

jmabela Sep 17, 2014 5:44 PM (in response to michaelgoshey)Thank you for your reply Michael,
Yes i'm very curious to see the new version of tags. I like the tagging panel in prelude, but it just wasn't functioning properly to be useful.. I'll be happy to give feedback with the new version.

12. Re: Tag name and description given to clip in Prelude 2014 does not show up in Premiere 2014
eikonoklastes Sep 17, 2014 10:28 PM (in response to michaelgoshey)Michael, thank you for the quick response. It's a tricky one for Premiere. Prelude has the ability to stack multiple markers/tags in the same location. Premiere has no UI for the same, even though it might be able to handle it internally.
Ideally, I'd like to see Prelude export its markers to Premiere as keyword collections, and their ranges are used to generate sub-clips on the fly within Premiere. So for e.g. if I mark a clip in Prelude with a comment marker, say "Smiles", in Premiere I'd like to be able to click on "Smiles" in the new Keyword filtering UI and have the filtered clips show up as sub-clips trimmed to the length of the markers set in Prelude.
I'm just getting my feet wet with Prelude, so perhaps something like this already exists in some form, but I haven't found it yet.
Thanks.

13. Re: Tag name and description given to clip in Prelude 2014 does not show up in Premiere 2014
michaelgoshey Sep 18, 2014 9:21 PM (in response to eikonoklastes)Hi,
Nice feature request - thank you.
If you use subclip markers in Prelude then when you import the clip into Premiere, Premiere will auto create subclips for you. Not the full workflow you describe but might be helpful for now.
Thanks,
Michael

15. Re: Tag name and description given to clip in Prelude 2014 does not show up in Premiere 2014
eikonoklastes Oct 14, 2014 6:10 AM (in response to michaelgoshey)Thanks for the reply Michael,
Nice to see that the comments now show in 2014.1.
I have an alternate suggestion to my previous (possibly tricky to execute) workflow. Simply add a feature to the tag panel that lets you choose what type of marker it creates. Set it to 'Subclip' and I'm good to go. I can then filter the subclips in Prelude and then send them all to Premiere when I'm done tagging.
Cheers.

16. Re: Tag name and description given to clip in Prelude 2014 does not show up in Premiere 2014
eikonoklastes Oct 14, 2014 6:32 AM (in response to eikonoklastes)Having typed that post, I realize that I missed my own point from my previous post. The point being that the subclip workflow in Prelude doesn't handle multiple identical tags well. It just creates a separate subclip for each one. 20 markers tagged "smile" will show up 20 times.
My previous suggestion works best in keeping large amounts of tags well organized. You import just the master clip, and the keyword-filtering UI does the work of exposing the tags as subclips for you (Bridge already does this). Considering Premiere now has dynamic search bins, this is a nice extension to that functionality.
