shooternz Jun 21, 2014 5:06 PM (in response to georget13)I never had any issues renaming .mxf files.
DO A TEST.
I used to retain part of the MXF name/number in the naming protocol so as I could revisit the Back Up original file if required.

2. Prelude can work, but you will need to transcode the clips, not just rename them.

georget13 Jun 22, 2014 7:56 AM (in response to shooternz)no not yet but we've just started, it looks like adobe generates a xml file when you do rename. I'm just concerned that renaming the clips in something like windows explorer will create issues down the line.

5. Re: The Best Procedure for Ingesting Mxf Files
JSS1138 Jun 22, 2014 8:50 AM (in response to shooternz)If you renamed the .mxf files from a P2 card, for example, PP would no longer be able to connect the video to the separate audio files.
As with any tapeless media, the general recommendation is to always copy the full card, and to never alter it's contents. There may be exceptions to that rule, but I prefer to advocate for safety.
