Thanks so much for your reply... unfortunately I tried downloading 5.7 as well and a mess saying "Welcome - Cannot Install Please click the Quit bottom - Photoshop camera RAW 5.7 - Already installed." came up. I've checked and rechecked the version and the camera raw plugin version on the program was and is still version 18.104.22.168
I've also tried using the help menu for updates in PS and Bridge and it says the programs are up to date... which obviously they're not. Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
This the manual installer for camera raw 5.7
The profiles are installed by double clicking on the downloaded Camera_Raw_5.7 dmg and double clicking on the cameraprofiles.mpkg
Install the camera raw.plugin by going to (Macintosh hard drive)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS4/File Formats and dragging the existing camera raw plugin to the Trash.
Then drag the new camera raw plugin from the dmg to the same folder.
I'm having a similar problem. I color correct in Lightroom 2.7 Camera Raw 5.7, then move photos for hand edits to Photoshop CS4 Version 11.0.
I recently reinstalled Adobe CS4 because I had to get a new hard drive. Now when I finish with a photo in Lightroom and tell it I want to edit in photoshop it says I need to update photoshop's camera raw plug-in to 5.7. I have already done exactly what you describe in the previous comment but lightroom still says I need to update the plug-in. Photoshop says there are no updates available to do it automatically.
Any other suggestions?
Which operating system are you using?
If in photoshop cs4 you go to
Help>About Plug-In (windows)
Photoshop>About Plug-In (mac)
and click on the words Camera Raw, what version does it say?
I have a Mac with cs4. It's currently running plug in version 22.214.171.124.
I have downloaded the 5.7 version from Adobe, but when I install it nothing
changes. Still won't read the raw files.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
I did this automated installer and it worked! Photoshop now says it's
running camera raw 5.7 and it opened a raw file for me in both photoshop
and lightroom>edit in photoshop. You saved me, thank you. I spent all of
yesterday and lots of wednesday trying to fix this. I appreciate your help
